What is Gold Position Sizing?
Position sizing for gold (XAUUSD) determines how many lots to trade based on your account capital, risk tolerance, and stop loss distance. Unlike forex pairs, gold has unique contract specifications that affect lot calculations.

What is Crypto Futures Position Sizing?
In USDT-M perpetual futures (Binance, Bybit, OKX), your position size is measured in USDT notional value. The calculator determines how much position size you can take based on your capital, risk %, stop loss distance, and leverage — then tells you exactly how much margin (order cost) you need.

Crypto Position Size Formula
Risk ($) = Capital × Risk %
SL % = |Entry − SL| ÷ Entry × 100
Position (USDT) = Risk ($) ÷ (SL% ÷ 100)
Contracts = Position ÷ Entry Price
Margin = Position ÷ Leverage
Example: $5,000 capital × 2% = $100 risk
BTC entry $96,000, SL $94,000 → SL% = 2.08%
Position = $100 ÷ 0.0208 = $4,807 USDT
At 10x: Margin = $480.77 USDT (your order cost)
Crypto Risk Management Tips
Higher leverage means lower margin, NOT higher risk. Your risk is defined by stop loss distance × position size.
Long positions pay funding when rate is positive. Factor this into swing trades lasting multiple days.
Keep isolated margin positions small. Cross margin uses your entire balance as collateral.
1-2% per trade is standard. Crypto is volatile — 3%+ per trade can destroy accounts during flash crashes.

In forex trading, a "lot" is the standard unit of measurement. Understanding lot sizes is essential for proper risk management and position sizing.
Forex Lot Size Formula
Risk ($) = Account Capital × Risk %
SL Pips = |Entry − Stop Loss| ÷ Pip Size
Lot Size = Risk ($) ÷ (SL Pips × Pip Value per Lot)
Example — EUR/USD:
$10,000 × 1% = $100 risk
Entry: 1.0480, SL: 1.0450 → 30 pips
Lot Size = $100 ÷ (30 × $10) = 0.33 lots
Margin at 1:100 = 0.33 × 100,000 × 1.0480 ÷ 100 = $345.84

Prop Firm Challenge Rules
Most prop firms share similar risk rules. The challenge is about consistency, not big wins. Here are the standard rules you need to stay within:
Safe Position Sizing for Challenges
Rule: Max Daily DD = 5%
Safe Risk Per Trade = 0.5% – 1.0%
This gives you 5-10 losing trades before hitting daily limit
Example: $100K FTMO Challenge
Max Daily Loss = $5,000
At 0.5% risk = $500 per trade
→ You can lose 10 trades in a row and still be safe
At 1% risk = $1,000 per trade
→ 5 consecutive losses = daily limit
→ More risk, less room for error
Prop Firm Risk Strategies
Risk only 0.5% per trade during challenges. This gives you 10 losing trades before hitting the daily 5% limit. Maximum safety.
Once you're +2-3% on the challenge, you can increase risk to 1% per trade. Never scale up from a loss.
Most prop firms prohibit or penalize trading during high-impact news. Check your firm's rules on NFP, FOMC, CPI.
The Scalper profile (5-20 pip SL) is ideal for challenges. Smaller stops = smaller position sizes = less drawdown risk.

Common Correlations
EUR/USD ↔ GBP/USD: High positive (~0.87). Both are "anti-dollar" pairs.
EUR/USD ↔ USD/CHF: High negative (~-0.93). Almost mirror images.
AUD/USD ↔ Gold: Moderate positive (~0.60). Australia is a gold exporter.
